Our apprenticeships are available to candidates who have not already completed an undergraduate degree, offering an alternative route into the legal profession.

We offer two apprenticeship programmes at Hill Dickinson:

Paralegal apprenticeship

with opportunities to progress to the solicitor apprenticeship

Business professionals apprenticeship

specialising in either HR, finance, IT or marketing

Our apprenticeships

Our paralegal apprenticeship is a two-year programme that combines practical experience with structured study, giving you the opportunity to begin your legal career straight from college or sixth form.


From day one, you’ll be part of a team, gaining hands-on experience while developing the knowledge and skills needed to succeed in the legal profession. Throughout the programme, you’ll specialise in a particular practice area, carefully matched to your interested, strengths and career aspirations.


Alongside your work at the firm, you’ll study key areas of law and legal practice, including:


  • Three law modules – covering foundational legal systems and principles, typically including: English Legal System/Public Law, Contract Law and Tort Law.
  • One elective module – allowing specialisation in a specific practice area, aligned to your team.
  • Professional practice skills – developing professionalism, ethics and administration.


On successful completion of the programme, you’ll achieve a Level 4 Certificate of Higher Education in Law and Legal Practice, providing a strong foundation for your future career.


Next steps 

Once you have completed the programme, you’ll have a range of progression opportunities available, including:

We offer apprenticeships across a number of specialist teams, including:


  • Human Resources (HR), with the opportunity to achieve CIPD qualifications
  • Finance, with pathways to AAT and ICAEW qualifications
  • Business Development and Marketing, with the opportunity to achieve DMI qualifications


From your first day, you’ll get involved in meaningful work, work alongside experienced professionals and contribute to meaningful projects that make a real impact across the firm.

Eligibility Criteria


We want to make sure this apprenticeship is the right opportunity for you. To apply, you’ll need to meet all of the eligibility requirements below, which are linked to funding the apprenticeship. If you’re unsure whether you qualify, we encourage you to review the criteria carefully before applying.


You’ll be eligible if you:


  • obtained 5 GCSEs at grade C or grade 4 and above 
  • obtained or are predicted to obtain 96 UCASE points
  • are under 22; or
  • are under 25 and have an Education, Health and Care (EHC) plan, and/or are currently in, or have previously been, local authority care
  • are not currently studying for another apprenticeship or degree
  • have lived in the UK for the past three years
  • have the right to live and work permanently in the UK for the full duration of the apprenticeship.
